Steven Dougherty has been in the dance industry professionally since 1992 after leaving the corporate world as a programmer and systems engineer with IBM. After having been an amateur National 10-dance Champion and National Ballroom Champion, Steven, as a professional dance competitor, was the U.S. National Rising Star Smooth Champion in 2000 and a 5-time U.S. & World finalist.

 

Steven has also made appearances on several television soap operas, PBS's "America's Ballroom Challenge", and has performed on stage at various venues including Carnegie Hall, the Vail International Dance Festival, and the Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino.

 

Choreography credits include “Romeo & Juliet” for the Juilliard School,  the musical “Ballroom” for the Elmwood Playhouse in Nyack, NY and "Cabaret" for the Bergen County Players in Oradell, NJ. Steven is also on faculty at the Juilliard School in NY.
